Dad's Root Beer

Dad's Root Beer

Dad's Root Beer, a beloved soft drink in America, emerged in the 1930s from the creative minds of Barney Berns and Ely Klapman, who collaborated in the basement of Klapman's residence near Chicago. On September 24, 1938, the first trademark registration for Dad's Root Beer was submitted, ultimately approved on February 14, 1939, to The Dad's Root Beer Company located in Chicago. It was claimed that the brand had been in use since February 1937. Dad's unrivaled flavor, distinct and delectable, quickly garnered a devoted following. With its popularity spreading throughout the Midwest, Dad's Root Beer emerged as one of the most widely consumed root beer brands in the United States by the late 1940s. Jules Klapman, son of co-founder Ely, triumphantly propelled the Dad's brand to international recognition. The name "Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer" was chosen as a tribute to Ely Klapman's father and all the fathers of that era who brewed homemade root beer for their families, a practice prevalent during the early 20th century.
